A historic southern Minnesota landmark, Shea partnered to remodel the St. James Hotel while maintaining its iconic roots. Shea refreshed common areas, event rooms and food and beverage spaces, providing a strategic direction to take the hotel to a level of acclaim while also serving as a go-to place for locals to dine. The Veranda patio was the first space to be completed, connecting guests to Red Wing’s beautiful outdoor landscape. Our combined team also reimagined the hotel’s flagship restaurant with a new brand – The Scarlet Kitchen – and design that would embrace the stunning views and sense of tradition in Red Wing. The restaurant feels approachable but special, and details nod to the iconic pottery, leather, and craftsmanship for which the town has become known. The finished projects reaffirm the St. James Hotel’s place as one of the Midwest’s most stunning historic properties, a true destination spot.
