We worked with Joan Ferris and Jay Sparks, a couple formerly of much-lauded D’Amico fame (her in the front of the house, him behind the stove) when they were ready to branch out and open their own labor of love in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Lovechild has plenty of personality, from the crushed-velvet booths to the warmly lit backbar. Opulent finishes throughout lend the space the historic glamour that it deserves, from the navy velvet loveseats in the lounge, perfect for curling up with a cocktail, to the gilded host stand. It’s a dreamy embodiment of Joan and Jay’s vision that stops short of overindulgence thanks to the exceptional hospitality and warmth emanating from the finishes, the kitchen, and the staff.
