Shea partnered again with longtime client Patina Restaurant Group to reconcept and redevelop Leatherby’s Café Rouge, the restaurant at Costa Mesta’s Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The new space takes guests on a warm, welcoming journey that embraces the venue’s natural surroundings. A new bar area is a cozy spot for drinks or dinner before a show, its backbar cubbies aglow, and silver accents throughout tie in with the metallic ceiling, which references the Center’s main atrium outside the restaurant doors. Groups of all sizes can gather at the plentiful new seating areas, giving the space great overall energy. And the elegant neutral palette serves as a backdrop for the open space’s focal points: a custom sculpture that doubles as a lighting fixture, and the bold, custom-fabricated red rug that nods to Leatherby’s long history as “Café Rouge.”
