A Bemidji mainstay, Bar 209 got a total refresh by Shea when its owners purchased the space next door as a sister restaurant. While bright sister restaurant Red Stu is focused on breakfast and brunch, Bar 209’s dark brick, bold murals, and community tables and banquettes give it a cozier vibe. Modern wood paneling mixes with rustic accents in line with the restaurant’s outdoorsy setting, and a bar with peninsulas, new tiled takeout window, and glass-encased private dining space give eaters plenty of options. And bold painted graphics and murals throughout the restaurant add a definitive dose of originality to the space.
